Justice
Former prosecutor
Justices are selected via nonpartisan elections to six-year terms and re-elected in retention elections. Interim selections to fill vacancies that occur between elections are made by governor appointment and must be from a list prepared by the Idaho Judicial Council, which consists of seven members: the Chief Justice, a district court judge, two attorneys appointed by the state bar and approved by the state senate, and three non-attorneys appoined by the governor and approved by the state senate.
